I'm a newbie so hope this is the right section for this question. I ordered a refurbished standard June 2012 13" MBP on 1/19. Received confirmation email that showed total of $1103.07, I am always charged tax on my apple orders. Scheduled to arrive 1/25.

Well this morning I can see the actual charge hit and it is for $1087.78. Think apple decided I deserved some additional discount? I don't think so and now wonder if I am getting an older machine.

Anybody else ever had this type of discrepancy with their online orders?

You're not getting an older machine. To confirm this...all you have to do is confirm the computers specs when it arrives.

I've heard of folks complaining when they are charged more...but not when they are charged less!;)

Not complaining just an OCD worrier. So far I am worried about:
can I get it to connect to my router
Can I get it upgraded to mountain lion without getting frozen somewhere
Can I even use the darn thing
Will I be sorry I bought refurb
And now how come there is a cost discrepancy

I should have just gone to best buy, apple is too far, and bought and came home and tried it. Worry time would have just been from store to home.

I'm hopeless.

Don't worry. It will connect, probably easily, the ML upgrade is pretty painless (I've done it on 5 machines), you will learn to use it, refurb is just fine (Apple restores them to fully like new) and you got a better deal than you expected.

I'd say your only worry is when the delivery person will arrive with the new toy!

Take it one step at a time. Try to avoid the fatalist approach to this and just configure your machine. If you hit any roadblocks, we're here.

As for your price discrepancy, feel free to contact Apple if you have any concerns.

Thank you guys for your encouragement. Van smith, what do you mean by configure your machine? I plan on going thru the setup and if I get network connectivity, getting a redemption code from apple, going to the Mac App Store, entering required info and hitting install and waiting. Is setup what you mean by configure? I know very little except how to “use" a PC. I did go thru a smooth iOS upgrade on my iPad LOL.

I meant configure broadly. In other words, don't worry about anything before you've actually begun using the machine. Wait for it, configure (set it up) it and just go with the flow.

There is no need to upgrade to Mountain Lion. The machine will arrive with Mountain Lion pre-installed.

Oh gosh, that would be wonderful and would make sense they would do that as they refurbed a product this late after ML release. I was just going by what the online product description said when I ordered - eligible for Mountain Lion upgrade. Thank you.

Scheduled for ARRIVAL TODAY!!! One more question - how can I tell what version software is there, will it show under About This Mac?

If you're talking about OS X, yes. Otherwise, each application will have the version number listed in their respective about dialogs.

If it says that, it MIGHT come with Lion (10.7.x) installed. If that happens to be the case, simply set up the machine the way you want and then visit Software Update (which is something you'd want to do anyway).

Hey Guys - so it arrived and I have it all setup. It went flawlessly, easiest thing I have ever done. As you already knew! And it did come with ML. It did have some minor updates that I had to do. And looks brand new and shows 0 battery cycles. Thank you all again for your patience during my ocd episodes during this week of waiting for it.

I must say too that my familiarity with my ipad helped so much during setup and my first tour around the desktop. I downloaded Numbers and it loaded and my budget spreadsheet that I had built on my ipad was there. I am just so impressed with my MBP!
