I just upgraded to 10.8. So far Firefox, Mail, and Preview have started quitting on their own. Mail in-particular does this, every time I delete a email. I have sent the report to apple when it pops up, but I need a fix asap. Any ideas?

As far as Firefox, do you know that the version you had is completely compatible with 10.8? Mail and Preview should be updated with the OS. What method of installing Mountain Lion did you use?

Yes I have the correct version. Seems like everything but Mail have stopped closing. So just an issue with Mail. I downloaded it from the app store.

What he was asking is did you upgrade a previous OSX or do a clean install?

That doesn't answer the question: How? (What method/option did you use?)

I'm not sure how to answer. My laptop came with 10.5 discs. I did a fresh installation, then used a 10.6 upgrade disc as a upgrade. Then I downloaded 10.8 from the app store and installed it as a upgrade.

I I did a fresh installation

Getting there. Does that mean you selected the Clean Install option? That would mean it wipes everything off, I believe.

I suppose you could try moving the file com.apple.mail.plist out of the preferences folder and onto the Desktop. Then when you open Mail again, it will create a fresh one. You need to get to your User/Library folder, which is hidden. I think it's revealed when you click View while holding down Option. (in my old OS, it's not hidden)
