I've woke up this morning and got an impulse buy in my mind.

I'm looking to develop multi room music in my house and was all set on the sonos systems but being a huge fan of apple stuff I thought I'd better give them a chance.

As far as I can understand, what lets the airplay system down versus the sonos system is that you can NOT play different music in different rooms. Yes, multi room the same song, but for instance...

I want boyzone playing in kitchen
Girlfriend wants sugababes in bedroom.
Both using our own iPhones at the same time...

As a background we have iphone4/5, ipad, MacBook Pro, MacBook, and soon to add iMac /mac mini.

I also like using iTunes as that's what all the above are using.

If airplay can't do this is their rumour of it coming?

Your answers will make my decision - which ill be buying in 1.5 hours.

Cheers

Hello,

The good thing with your equipment list is that you appear to have multiple sources to choose from.

The usual scenario is that people are limited by a single source (computer with one iTunes library).

In theory you should be able to play 3 or 4 different tracks to 3 or 4 different speaker set ups, and I would use Apple TV's or Apple Expresses depending on what AV equipment you have to output the music together with the Apple Remote app on your iPhones.

This subject was recently discussed on another thread for some more info for you the link is here
