I like to tail my logs on different programs. I am noticing that I get a broken pipe error and get disconnected after some time. This didn't happen on my last mac. I just bought this new one 2 days ago. Anyone know of a setting or something I need to change. I have googled it a little but none of the suggestions worked.

I don't want to run it in the background. I want to watch it run. The problem is that the shell stops tailing and gives the error message "Broken Pipe".

Well remove the & -> it will be in the foreground.

You still haven't answered the question - what are you using for your tail command?

I am running tail -F right now on a 10.8.2 MBA and I am not getting any broken pipes.

I use the tail command to watch my error logs. I am not looking for a new way to do it. I just want to get rid of the error.
