Decided to purchase two new imacs when they become available. The apple store quoted a price of 99 dollars to transfer all data, photos etc and that would include one year class sessions which we plan to attend. Janet has a laptop and I a desktop. Question. Security. Having this done over the weekend does it pose any risks to personal information? I guess there is always something however what are my alternatives? I surf the web, store some pictures have some documents that need to be secure. Also after the machine is 'clean' I just plan on keeping it however the laptop is going to a grandchild.
Thanks,

The alternatives are to do it yourself or have it done by someone you know personally that you trust with the information.
I'd expect your personal data to be secure if the Apple store people are doing the transfer. It would be bad business for them otherwise. Just depends how you personally feel about it really. How far does your confidence and trust extend.

One more thing..... whoever transfers the data I'd make sure you have a backup of any data you can't replace. Photos, documents etc. Though for anyone with critical data (photos especially) I'd always recommend keeping a regular backup anyway.

Agree - While the migration is pretty safe - wouldn't let anyone touch my data unless I've got a backup.
