Assigning cpu core(s) to a vm

As I have a quad core processor is it advisable to assign 2 cores to the vm rather than the default 1?
Would it make any/much difference at all?

Which product are you using?

Probably not. Unless you need really specific control, you're better off sticking with the defaults.

Sorry I forgot to mention the vm is Windows 8 Pro.
No specific control required. I have set it to 2 cores now just to try it and there were no noticeable differences in either the guest or the host but this was only with light usage.
I'll put it back to 1 core.
