I'm currently running OS X Snow Leopard 10.6.4 and trying to reformat and reinstall this OSX. I put CD 1 into my drive and it tells me to restart in order to being the process. After I reboot my comp chimes then sits on a white screen doing nothing and just remains in this state. I manually turn it off and on and hold OPTION and click the CD icon. The cursor freezes and nothing happens. I manually turn it of and on but instead click on the HD. The comp boots up just fine. I tried the CD on another computer and it works just fine. Please help. Thank you.

AND I tried resetting the PRAM... it just reboots the system. I tried resetting the PRAM and then holding C and it does nothing.

It sounds like your optical drive is broken if the Snow Leopard DVD works OK on another machine.

This is a black retail install DVD and not a silver grey model specific disc?
