I have a mid 2012 i7 MacBook Pro and lately it seems to be running super hot. I have never noticed it getting this hot before. What could be the cause of this?

What sort of tasks were you doing when the MBP got hotter than it usually does?

- Nick

Normal like streaming video which would cause some heat but not THIS much. I took a screenshot of iStat and honestly I dont know what would be considered hot but I put the temps in Fahrenheit so would you or someone else be able to tell me if this is hot? Also the battery is draining rather fast. Maybe it is related to a program running in the background?

Your exhaust isn't even full bore yet - so it isn't even running hot according to the monitor (5000-6000RPM is when your exhaust fan is at Max) 2000-4000 RPMS is pretty normal for most laptops.

Yes...that will do it. Always a great idea when something is going "wacky" (in terms of fan speed or temperature)...to check the cpu process's in Activity Monitor.

Congrats for finding it...before someone suggested it!;)
