I've had good luck with Readiris - but it isn't cheap.
Readiris 14, OCR Software: Scan, Convert & Manage your Documents!
Upon searching OCR in the App Store - it seems there are quite a few in the $30-$100 that get better marks than Readiris - but I haven't personally used them.

Abby Fine Reader
AbbyyFineReader is available in the App Store is and is one of the better OCR Software out there.
Fujitsu's ScanSnap OCR Scanners all use this Software and it works really well.

noone mentions OCRKit?

JUKE179r -- it's not actually legal for them to do that. You weren't to know (not your fault, Adobe's fault) but those downloads are ONLY for people who ALREADY have licenses to that (very very old) software. Adobe put out a notice that it's NOT giving these apps away.
