I found a used MBP battery on craigslist. My current battery is the original one bought 6 years ago. It has 601 cycles and is at 53% health. If I unplug the charger, the battery keeps me running for about 10-20 minutes before dying.
The battery I'm buying is from another MBP with a faulty logic board (the owner is selling the parts), so there's now way to simply check the battery status on its original machine. I'll have to put it in my MBP to see how it works.
What I want to know is if my MBP will be able to tell me the health of the other battery. Is the 601 cycles/53% health I mentioned earlier stored on the battery itself and the computer is reading it off the battery, or is it stored on the computer somewhere?
TIA!
