The Applications Folder may have been moved from the dock to and deleted from the trash.

However, I'm unable to drag a new Applications Folder into the dock after accessing it through the Finder>Get Info.

What I've dragged into the dock is the icon for the first listed App, Adobe Reader.

But if I click on it in the dock, what opens is the Applications Folder!

Any suggestions on how to restore the actual Applications Folder?

Thanks, in advance.

That is the Applications folder. If you want a different appearance - right click on the icon and make your selection from 'Display As'.

Not exactly. Things that get moved from the Dock do not go into the Trash, they just vanish. ...the solution to get a different icon is offered above.
