Hey guys,

I have an old G5 1st generation (the 1st aluminium body model) running Panther 10.3 that I want to sell. It is acting up. Every time I run a finder search it crashes, the wheel of death doesn't stop spinning. What shall I do?
As a last resort, would restoring osx with the installation disks solve my problem?

Many thanks,
J

Since you intend to sell the machine anyway, it certainly can't hurt to restore Panther clean. I don't know if it will resolve the problem - especially if it turns out to be hardware related - but it's worth a try.

Thanks a lot. But, there are files on the G5 I need to get off before wiping the dive but it is running so slow I cant even get them onto a flash drive without problems! Are there any quick things I can do to try and speed it up a bit before I wipe it?

many thanks,
j
