I just installed a new seagate hard drive in my mid 2011 MacBook Pro. My new dive is not formatted so I can't boot it up. I made a copy of my old Mac HHD on an external disk that hopefully had my operating system on it. I was running lion.

I get to a certain point nod it asks me to change my partition scheme.

Help!

Do you still have the drive you removed from your 2011 MBP? If you do, you can clone it to your new drive very easily. And since you're using Lion, download (buy) Carbon Copy Cloner from here. Using it will clone your old drive including the hidden recovery partition to the new drive. Then, all you need to do is install the new drive and it should boot.
