MacBook not connecting to wifi router - no airport card?.

Total wifi newbie here!

I just connected my iPad to my new wifi router today but when I try to connect my MacBook (about 3 yrs old) to the router I can't turn airport on.

Help pls!

Can you establish a wifi connection through System Preferences > Network

All MacBooks have builtin WiFi...so as the thread title suggests...it's not missing WiFi hardware. It could be:

- a bad WiFi card
- the antenna(s) wires could have become disconnected from the card
- could be your WiFi/network settings on the MacBook
