- Your Mac's Specs
- 21.5" iMac, 500GB HD, 8GB RAM, 32GB iPhone 4S Black, 32GB iPod Touch
I'm running Snow Leopard on a late 2009 iMac.
Yesterday I got a 4TB Hitachi Touro HD. I left the HD connected with files transfering to it all night. There were no problems. I began transfering more files today and after about an hour the kernel panicked. First kernal panic in well over a year.
Repaired the Mac's HD but simply having the new external HD was causing panics. Shut down and opened disk utility, erased and repaired the new HD. I have also managed to set the new HD's format as Mac OS Extended (Journaled). 20 minutes later everything is running fined but I'm a nervous wreck. Anyone any advice on how I can avoid this?
