When I want to copy and paste cells, I hold the command key and the C key and this puts a border of marching ants around the cell I want to work with. I am trying to figure out how to make this border more visible. I use excel 2003 on a pc laptop and the marching ants are bold and very visible, versus this Excel 2011 on my new Macbook Pro

You may be able to get something more visible by applying a theme to Office 2011. You also might be able to get more visibility this way:

Open System Preferences, General. Change the highlight color to one that's darker and more visible. That may or may not work to give you a better outline around the cells.
