When I first set up my Apple TV I thought to myself...man, this remote would be easy to lose.

Well as you may have guessed it has been lost.

What to do? Can a new one be purchased for an Apple TV unit?

Check e-Bay as well. You may be able to save a few bucks.

Do they just automatically connect properly with new units?

Yes...there is nothing special about those little Apple remotes (no special frequencies or setup procedures).

If you have one of these remotes...and used it with your Apple TV...you could then go to one of your friends houses who also has an Apple TV...and your remote would work with their Apple TV as well.

Not only that, it'll also work with the Front Row.app if you installed it on your Mac. I've got a remote I purchased back in early 2008 and it still works on a newer iMac.

I just found the free Remote App. Operates my AppleTV better than the lost remote did on my iPhone and kids iPads. Problem solved!

Thanks for your input

Depending on how elaborate your Audio Video room is the Harmony One operates it also.

I have a dedicated theatre room and tried the Harmony One. It was not as user friendly as I wanted and actually just sold it on eBay.
