Have a brand new mac mini. 10.8 USB mouse. cursor keeps freezing. First the red light goes out. Then the freeze. Have: repaired disk permissions, removed and reconnected mouse, total operating install, tonite, with advice of Apple Care have shut down with button, then restarted holding down command+ option and R+P till second chime, Have had to do that 3 times tonite.
Should i get a new mouse??
This has been happening since I got the computer.
Been down to genius bar, and one on one, and after a while of working starts to happen again.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Am "assuming" from what you've stated, only the cursor freezes while the machine is still working and keyboard shortcuts, etc. continue to work.

Yes, get another mouse.

Anyone with a computer should have a spare mouse around.
Buy a cheaper first to have as a backup - this will enable you to verify the issue is with the mouse.
