Hi -- I have MacBook 2007, MacBook 2.1, Intel Core 2 Duo, processor speed 2 GHz, bus speed 667 MHz, memory 1 GB and I want to add memory and install Snow Leopard. What do I need to do first and where should I purchase what I need?

Thanks for your help?

You can purchase the memory modules from Other World Computing: LINK

Snow Leopard can be purchased direct from the Apple on line store for $19.99.

FYI..the thread title mentions "downloading" Snow Leopard. Snow Leopard is NOT downloadable...an install disk must be purchased from the Apple Store as "chscag" recommended.:)

Thanks Nick & chscag -- do I need to install the memory first and then Snow Leopard or doesn't it matter? Also, do you know the maximum memory upgrade I can do from 10.4.11?

The operating system has nothing to do with how much RAM you can put into the machine - that would be related to the specific Mac (hardware) you have.

The Mac you have listed above can be upgraded to 4 GB by using two 2 GB sticks. However, it is only able to use 3 GB. You will want to upgrade to 4 GB though in order to maintain it's dual channel capability.

RAM can be upgraded at any time.

Here is just about everything you need to know about your hardware, incl'g what type of RAM you need - link.

Good place to purchase is OWC to make sure you get RAM that will work in your machine - link by chscag above.
