I want to copy photos on my Dell - and install them on my Macbook Pro.

Using a Sony DVD-R I copied the Dell pics.

When I installed the DVD into the Pro - it said the DVD was "blank."

Why?
I did the same exercise (different dvd-r) with my Toshiba notebook, and it worked fine.

When you burned the DVD-R with your Sony (assuming you did that with your Dell) did you close the disk? If you left the disk open the TOC was not written and the disk will not show up on a Mac. Macs can not correctly handle open DVD disks or multi-session DVDs. Better yet, use a flash drive to do the transfers as it's easier.
