I've been working on a Macbook pro up to now along with a M-Audio Soundcard Profire 610. But my macbook is still very limited to run Logic Studio 9 because it only has a 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor (13'' model 2010). This year, I was thinking of upgrading to an IMAC i5 but I found out that the new IMAC does not support firewire? I have two soundcards a Profire 610 and a Profire 2626? Do I need to change my soundcard too to be able to make music with this new IMAC?

Yes, there is no FireWire port on the new iMacs, but there is a thunderbolt port. You can purchase a thunderbolt to FireWire adapter from Apple and get FW800 speeds to your FireWire devices.
