Hi, I have a new Macbook pro and i am new to the mac OS. I am having annoying issues with my usb ports. i have an avid mbox mini and a wireless mouse. my mouse randomly disconnects and will not connect unless i restart the mac and then 5 minutes after i do it disconnects again. and my m box sometimes doesnt play any audio from my mac. and when i try to unplug/replug it in i have to restart my mac also or it wont read the mbox(during the whole process my mbox has power)

Not much information to go on but if this is a new MacBook Pro it should still be under warranty. Before taking it on in for Apple to look at, try resetting the System Management Controller (SMC). Follow directions from this Apple KB article: LINK If that doesn't work to reset the ports, make an appointment with Apple to have your machine looked at.

No way other than what you already tried by resetting the SMC. As a last resort, try resetting the NVRAM just in case your machine has "forgotten" about the ports. Do this:

Shut down your Mac.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command (⌘), Option, P, and R.

You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously.

Turn on the computer.

Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys before the gray screen appears.

Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Release the keys.

If that doesn't work, make that appointment to have your machine looked at by Apple. Let us know.
