root as default terminal login

I had my desktop setup so when the terminal opened, you were automatically logged in as root. My laptop is still currently this way, but I can't seem to figure out how to change it back so that I'm automatically logged in as root (without being prompted to enter a password).

Bad idea. Period. After almost 20 years in unix admin, engineering and development... I still don't log in as root.

In a way, it does. Not doing this is a better idea than doing it at all. Why are you trying to do this? There's likely a better solution to your problem.

So does your laptop login as root automatically or not? A little confused by your statement. Also, if you set it up on your Desktop, you should know how to set it up on your laptop. The alternate is to just do "sudo su" when you open the prompt to become root and continue from there..

But I'll echo the Dark Sith Lord and Dysfunction that this is not a good idea and takes away a layer of protection that you have. As someone who's been using Unix based systems (like Dysfunction) for many years and have blown away key files while not paying attention to what I was removing and crippling my system..
