Hi everyone,
I already have a new mac mini at home with mountain lion and I bought a used 2009 mac mini from ebay that I thought already had mountain lion.

I erased the hard drive and went to reinstall mountain lion so the operating system would be fresh with my credentials and username. After doing this it won't let me reinstall osx because I found out that only lion was installed and I don't have that operating system purchased on my apple id. You can no longer purchase lion in the app store so I don't know how to upgrade this computer now that it's stuck.

Is there some way to bypass lion and go right to mountain lion on the recovery boot up screen? This is extremely frustrating and I don't have any snow leopard or lion disks because I didn't think I would need them anymore now that the newest operating system is all in the cloud.

Please help, I'm stuck.

Buy a copy of Snow Leopard direct from Apple on line. $19.99 plus some local tax. Install Snow Leopard on the Mini, access the Mac App store and download Mountain Lion with your Apple ID. And next time, hang on to all your disks even if you think you no longer need them. ;)
