Hey guys,

My CD drive/burner is to be playing up!
It burns CD ok but then will not read the burn disk. Nothing shows up in iTunes down the left hand column, when I insert disk. Also fans keep whirling up like it keeps trying to read the disk but is getting no where.

I have been having to eject the disk from Disk utility.
Put one of the disks into a friends mac the other day and even via disk utility, it wouldn't eject!
Disks don't play in a normal CD player either.

Does anything have any suggestions on how to fix?

This disc drive was a fairly recent replacement through an apple specialist.
Are replacements held under new 1 year warranties? - my mac is out of pro plan period.

Many thanks,
Josh

Apple warrants replacement parts and labor for 90 days. If your disk drive is acting up, it may be dirty. You can try cleaning it by blowing compressed air into the drive from one of those compressed air cans that can be purchased.

Disk drives of the slot type which Apple uses are very fragile and seem to fail more so than the tray types. Also, make sure you use good quality media.
