Hello all,

First question here.

Basically, I installed windows 7 and 8 at separate times and deleted the partitions with bootcamp and when repartitioning my harddrive so that OSX has the entire thing, I've lost about 2GB of data.

I've been told I need to find the windows.old folder and remove those, but I have no idea how to find it/them.

I do not want to reinstall OSX or have to use time machine.

How do I get these 2GBs back/find the windows.old folder?

If you've deleted the Windows 7 and Windows 8 partitions using the Boot Camp assistant, the windows.old directory was deleted along with everything else in Windows. If it's only 2 GB of space that you can't compensate for, it's likely being used by OS X. Download the free Disk Inventory X and see what you can come up with.

Macintosh HD:
Capacity 6,97.8 GB
Used: 1,96.0 GB
Free: 5,01.9 GB

Disk Inventory X:
Capacity: 16.0 MB
Used: 9.8 MB
Free: 6.2 MB

not really sure what to do with these.

basically trying to find out why partition size doesn't match max capacity size as shown:
