Probably not. Warranties are designed to cover defects to a device that are not caused by you.

And, next time only post your question one time. Both posts have been merged together.

You have to purchase the "Accidental Damage" extra Apple care at the same time you purchase your iPhone or iPad. You can't wait. The reason is obvious.

Apple will replace your iPhone 5 with a refurbished model but will charge you a fee. I don't recall what the fee is, you'll have to ask.

and what if i lied and said that the damage was pre-existing.. :p

I guess that I was raised differently. If I dropped my phone and damaged it I would never even dream of lying about it to get a replacement. How come nobody can seem to do what is right anymore? Is it really hard to step up to the plate and admit you screwed up?

Go ahead and lie and perpetrate fraud if you wish, but if you do just know that makes you a dirt bag!

+1 to what John stated and do you honestly think Apple won't know that you're lying?

Do the right thing and exchange it for a refurbished model. It will cost you some $$ but then you'll have a new phone.

How did you pay for it? Some credit card companies have replacement policies that may cover you. It's a longshot, but doesn't cost anything to check out.
