I'm running Warcraft 3 in bootcamp mode - I love the abilty to use Win7 for games on a Mac.

A way to assign units in the game to a certain group when in native windows is to select the group with the mouse and then hold down Control on the keyboard plus a number. That number is then assigned to the unit, making it easier to call upon in the game.

For example, I'd select a group of soldiers by left-clicking and dragging a window around them. Then they're selected. I'd then press Ctrl+1 to assign them to group 1. Then when I press 1 in future, all those guys are automatically selected. But when playing via Bootcamp, Ctrl+"number" doesn't do anything. Neither does Command+"number".

Does anybody know what keypress would be the same as Ctrl in Windows-based Real Time Strategy games played in Bootcamp on the Mac? This Ctrl+number is used in a lot of them.

Thanks for your time

Assuming you're not using a full sized Apple keyboard, try Fn+Ctrl+Number. If that doesn't work, try other combos using the Fn key. Next time tell us which Mac you have.

Turns out it works using the standard apple control key after all...
Wasn't yesterday but is today. Oh well.

Thanks for the views and reply - it's a MacBook Pro 7.1 btw.
Will include it in a signature to make life easy for one and all.

No fix necessary, harryb - check out my post a couple of frames up - it turns out Ctrl+"number" worked after all. For some reason, it wasn't before I posted and then a while after, it did. Maybe I stuffed up. Anyway, all good now.
