my mac doesn't recognize external modem

When I plug in en external modem (huawei) it does not appear on my desktop.
This occur in one of my laptops but not in the other, I guess is a configuration problem but don't know which;
Anyone can help me with this?

2017 27" iMac, 10.5" iPad Pro, iPhone 8, iPhone 11, iPhone 12 Mini, Numerous iPods, Monterey
The likely problem is that you have not installed drivers in order for the modem to be seen by your Mac. Did the modem come with drivers for OS X or does it say that it's even compatible with OS X?
