Macbook Pro black screen on start-up!?!?

Hi guys,

My macbook pro has started doing this weird thing on start up, where the normal apple loading screen will appear, then the screen will go blank for literally a second and then the white loading screen comes back on and works as normal. So far it hasn't been a problem because like I said, it works as normal. But is this a potential warning sign about my macbook on it's way out. It's a 2011 macbook pro 15" if that helps

You're not alone. There are several threads here and on the Apple support forums discussing MacBook black screen issues. Some respond to various software resets, one type is subject of an Apple recall, and others seem to be hardware issues. We're going through this now in our family with a 1.5 year old MB.

Are you running Lion and if so did you just recently upgrade to it?
