Apologies if this question has been covered before.

I see that Apple has finally upgraded their Airport Express to look more like the Apple TV which is a nice look.

I currently have an Airport Extreme but the coverage in my home is only so-so when I get furthest away from it.

What I'd like to do is purchase the new AE Base Station and use it as a wireless extender to improve the signal in those areas where it drops off.

I'm pretty sure this can be done but I'm wondering how difficult it is to setup? I hope to purchase it in the next day or two.

Thanks for any help or advice.

It can be done and it's very easy. You just run through assistant in the Airport Utility, selecting "extend an existing network"

Thanks mrplow. Sounds like it should be a breeze. Hopefully it does what I need it to.

It may just take anti of experimentation to work out where the best location for it is.

If you have access to a MacBook you can use this to map your wifi strength across your house

+1 on the advice

My home network currently uses the latest model TimeCapsule as the base, with a 1st Gen TimeCapsule and an AirPort Extreme extending. Works quite well and was fairly easy to configure. Only real problem I had was wanting to insert the new TC as the base and demote the old TC. Took a bit, but got it sorted. But if you are just adding an additional router to extend should be a piece of cake. :)
