• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I have an old PowerMac G4 Sawtooth that I have hooked up to my 30" RCA LCD HD Monitor. I have the mac going into the VGA port of the monitor and would like to know if its possible to achive 16:9/Widescreen display? Do I need to upgrade my video card? Must I use the DVI port? Or is it just a setting that I must change. When playing a DVD using the G4 I just get a normal screen aspect ratio of 4:3 or whatever it is. I'd like to put this machine to use as a media center for my home theater system and am off-put by the fact that I cannot achive widescreen. Any help would be much apperciated.

Thanks,
Debaser
