unable to hear on iphone 5

My iphone 5 was working fine and now I can't hear on the phone without using the headphones. I have turned the phone off and back on, unplugged the headphones several times, and made sure the volume is turned all the way up in settings. The sound is perfect without headphones for the music.

i had the same problem with my iphone 4s, even after using a cotton bud and alcohol to clean the jackpot and connector. :(
