Now when i try to launch finder it says that it cant find the application, i tried renameing it back using terminal, berified macintosh hd in disk utiliy and repaired it but nothing happens and nothing appears on my desktop apart from the background and the dock but i can use every other app.
Im running a macbook spring 2010 with 2gb ram mountain lion 10.8.2
Please help, thanks:'(

Rename it Finder not Finder.app (use the get info command to see if you have called it Finder.app.app)

If you cant do that try installing the demo of TotalFinder, an alternative Finder that may restore your GUI

Restart and see if that works

Enable the "root" user, log on as root and rename it back to "Finder". How to enable the root user: LINK Just be careful while you're logged on as root. And for goodness sake, learn how to make backups so you can recover from these types of accidents.

Sage advice and let me add that there is absolutely no reason for any user to be modifying any files outside their home directory. Especially in any folder named "CoreServices"..

Stick to playing with files in your home directory and you'll be a lot safer in the long run..
