Mac app store purchases games 75% off

Ok so at the moment mac is having a 75% off sale on some games on the app store. If i were to buy these games could I install them on a disk to save HD space and would they run of this disk?

They should run off any disk. However... depending on the game, the type of disk, and the way it's connected, they may perform pretty badly.
