Greetings everybody,

Newbie here. I spilled an ounce of coke on my roommate's 13'' MBP last Tuesday. We immediately got it cleaned and everything. I even went to a repairs store to get the logic board sonic cleaned. Everything works fine when we got it back a couple days later.

But the MBP won't turn on without being plugged in. Once it's on, my roommate can unplug it and use it fine, so it's not a battery problem. It's just the turning on that requires it to be plugged in.

It's at the repairs store again. They're trying to figure out what's wrong, but so far no luck.

Anybody got any ideas/similar situations? Is it the logic board? I hope not...because that thing is expensive. :(

Thanks for the help!!!

G'day and welcome to the forums.

Liquid + electronics = death all to often alas. Coke is particularly corrosive and damaging. It is common for this damage to come on days or even weeks after the spill. Logic board damage is the likely culprit.

Agree with Harry. You probably owe your roommate a new logic board. The charging circuitry and switching logic are located on that board and very likely was shorted out during the spill. Replacing a logic board is expensive.

Aww man, I hope it wasn't the logic board...but that seems most likely eh?

Sucks to be a college student and facing this kinda problem...
Actually, sucks to be anybody and facing a logic board problem!

RIP my wallet.

Thanks for the replies, guys~:)
