Welcome to Mac-Forums

Do you download by right clicking on the PDF and choosing to save or just left clicking on it? Do you have Adobe Acrobat installed on your machine and plugins for Firefox/Safari?

Unless you've installed a plug-in (Adobe Reader doesn't count in this case since it only works with Safari), Firefox is confounded by PDFs and should just download it. Thus, if Firefox can't download PDFs, you've likely got a plug-in stopping things here.

When you try to download one, what happens?
