I have a MacBook Pro with OS Lion 10.7.5 (2.2 GHz Intel Core i7, 4GB 1333 MHz DDR3). Everything works fine. I am inclined to upgrade to Mountain Lion 10.8 mostly just because it is there ... it's new. When Mountain Lion was first issued, I read some complaints about it, but I assume they have been addressed. I guess what I am asking experienced Mac users here is, Is there any reason not to upgrade? Thanks.

No problems whatsoever. The 'net is a great place to find negativity regarding EVERYTHING!
