I've seen this problem pop up everywhere, but i couldn't find a solution.

just bought 2x 2gb RAM just to give my 2010 white unibody mac a boost in speed.

but they don't work together (getting beeping noise at boot), they work perfectly with the old 1gb RAM when i have a stick of old and new inserted so i get 3gb, why wont these new ones work together.

Dont tell me they're unseated because ive tried reseating them 100 times.

Can anyone help?

I know with my MBP, when I had the RAM not seated correctly it made the same beeping noise on boot up.
Try and reseat RAM again for the 101 time?

Did you purchase the correct speed ram? Someone else recently had a very similar problem…and initial indicators were that they purchased the wrong speed ram (they haven't posted back to tell us the results of getting the exact recommended ram).

Tell us know the exact specs of the ram you purchased.

What you have posted does not provide the specs for the RAM - it only indicates what the system recognizes and the speed at which the system is using them.

A direct link to the specific RAM you purchased would be best.

However, if they don't work with each other, there's not really anything you are going to be able to do except return them and get different RAM known to work with Macs.

Would recommend you head to either Crucial or OWC.

Thanks for the ram info. Are the 2 gig sticks of ram matching? Because the screen shot only shows the info for one of the 2 gig sticks.

Where did you buy this ram? Personally I hesitate to purchase ram for Mac's unless it comes from Crucial or OWC…or DEFINITELY says it works with Mac's.

If you are 100% sure there is nothing wrong with the computer…and for some reason these two 2gig sticks of ram aren't wring well with each other. I would return the ram…and order some new ram from Crucial or OWC.

HTH,

EDIT: bobtomay beat me to it!;)
