battery for Macbook 2,1 late 2006 white 13 in.

Do i need a new battery for my laptop if it wont stay powered on without the plugged in charger? Once I unplug the charger the computer shuts off. Not sure if its charging or not, I just know its needs to have the charger connected for it to be powered and stay on. Thanks

It's very likely the battery. Cells just don't last forever. To confirm this though...

Click on the Apple on the top left, go to About this Mac, then More info (I think that's what it's called)

Then on the left go to Power, we're looking at the Battery Information (as follows):

Charge Information:
Charge Remaining (mAh): 6531
Fully Charged: Yes
Charging: No
Full Charge Capacity (mAh): 6548
Health Information:
Cycle Count: 89
Condition: Normal

Now, what does the 'Condition' section say?

I would definitely say you need a new battery. Make sure you buy a good battery and not a cheap knock off. I know they're expensive but if you intend to keep your machine for awhile longer, it will be worth it.

Not bad though, 6 years out of a battery. My daughter's only lasted 3.
