Hello,
Brand new to your group...my wife has a 2 year old MB Pro, 160GB. Last week she turned on and got the dreaded white folder/question mark. I did a little work, trying to hold CTRL when re-boot, and got to the screen to select the start-up OSx file folder, and it booted fine. Next time though, same thing...and CTRL didnt do anything, so I used the original CD and went through the Repair process....at the end, it told me to back things up and re-format the HD. She took it to Apple last night and they told her the HD it fried, buy a new one. We at the very least would like to get some files off of it before this drastic step. Any suggestions? Thank you.
