iPod Nano : Files not showing up

Have several podcasts that I attempt to drag down into one of my playlists, which shows them having arrived; when I look in my iPod playlist, however, the podcasts are not there nor is there a separate Podcast option showing; a bit puzzling because I have done this previously a number of times and Podcast would be in my iPod with the dragged items, playable. Don't think I've done anything differently, but I am getting older day by day and the memory does have a few snit-outs once in a while so I might not remember ... Any suggestions? Much appreciated.
