• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi here is a question that keeps me awake at night. i need a laptop to edit video i need something fast that suports avid express pro and final cut pro. untill yesterday there was only one option: power book. but now a possibly more powerful machine is around the MacBook with intel dual core procesors.
the problem with the power book is that it could not compete with the AMD Athlon 64 that i'm used to and it seems that MacBook being new may not run final cut and also it's Ati x1600 card may not be good enough for video editing.
is there anyone who could coment on this? i know little about mac and all say here is what other people have toldme. it is kind of urgent PLEASE

No one yet knows how the new MacBooks perform, wait until February then ask again.

Why would it not be able to run Final Cut?

X1600 is a better GPU than the Radeon 9700.

I don't see whats not to like about the MacBooks except that you'll have to wait a month before you can get one.
