• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

Hi, I have been having trouble trying to burn a video, which is in MPEG 2 format, to a DVD so it will run in my DVD player. I am using Burn, and following instructions, but it just will not play. I am using the correct discs, as far as I can tell. I have used Burn before successfully to make DVDs which play fine.
Does anybody have any thoughts on this? I have really no idea what I could be doing wrong. The DVD I made with Burn will play just fine in my iMac but not in the DVD player. Thanks for your help.

What are you using to play the dvd on your Mac? Quicktime or DVD Player?

That's good as it shows that you've made a video dvd rather than a data dvd. Unfortunately some DVD machines are fussy about homemade dvds and the brand/type of dvd used

I did find that i had the settings in Burn set to Pal rather than NSTC, but when I changed it, it didnt make any difference. I have used the exact same discs in the same DVD player and they worked fine. I dont know, the whole thing is a bit of a mystery.
