Hi.
I have OX 10 ver. 10.7.5
Lately, it's been getting slow and I've been seeing that rainbow pinwheel spinning a lot.
Saw some advice on here about checking/resetting permissions to speed it up, so using Disk Utility, I ran "Verify Disk Permissions" and found many errors. In particular, I found this:
The volume Macintosh HD appears to be OK.
Verifying permissions for “Macintosh HD”
Warning: SUID file “System/Library/CoreServices/RemoteManagement/ARDAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/ARDAgent” has been modified and will not be repaired.
Permissions differ on “System/Library/PreferencePanes/Displays.prefPane”; should be drwxr-xr-x ; they are lrwxr-xr-x .

There is a very long list of this "Permissions differ. . . " statement that I can provide if needed.
