Apple TV screensaver interrupts movies

My new Apple tv worked just fine on TV shows (all less than 1 hour in length) but when I watched a movie on Netflix the screensaver took over the video. I could hear the audio just fine and had to press the 'pause' button to get the video back. This occurred about 5-6 times during the remaining hour. Got a fix other than turning the screensaver setting to "never"?

Sorry, don't have another fix. If anyone has one, I'd like to know also.

The OS just doesn't see a browser as being active the way it would if you were playing a movie using another app like iTunes, DVD Player, VLC, etc.

Apple tv screensaver

Thanks for the reply.

Do you think that returning the recently purchased unit and getting a replacement might fix the problem? Also, if I set screensaver to "never" how long can I be on pause without risking image burn-in on the plasma tv?

Depends on the TV. I've had my Panasonic on pause for 30 minutes at a time while I went and picked up some food. Have seen others complain about just a few minutes. Burn in is not nearly the issue it was even just 5 years ago.

Note: I do not have an Apple TV - sort of overlooked that part of it.

Are you using Airplay to stream from your computer to watch Netflix or watching Netflix on the Apple TV?

Better wait for someone with an AppleTV to come along.

Found a couple of others that solved the same issue with Netflix by just rebooting the AppleTV.

Try the usual - unplug from power - count to 30.
