Ram upgrade or not?

I have been using Aperture 3 more and more and finding the 'loading' icon on more and more.

Is it wise to upgrade my RAM?

I have a IMac 10,1 with 4gb at present.

If I were to upgrade what would people advise?

Open Activity Monitor and hit the Memory button the bottom to see what your memory consumption looks like, if it indicates that you have little to no free memory available and that the majority of it is being used by Aperture, then a memory upgrade would indeed help..

You can purchase memory from OWC or Crucial (I've bought a couple of upgrades from Crucial recently for my iMacs)..

I just had a quick look and its at about 1.4gb, so looks like its ok I suppose????

Your iMac 10.1 can handle up to 16GB. If you are seeing the spinning beach ball using Aperture, consider beefing it up to 12GB. This will improve things, but not as much as a newer, faster model will.

Yes - highly recommend upgrading. 4GB is just too little these days - IMPO.

Just looked on the crucial (UK) website, I may even fill it up with 4 sticks of 4gb as it was cheaper than I thought
