Hello,

I'm using the 27-inch, 2011 iMac. I don't want to go crazy with multiple monitors, but I definitely am looking for a second screen.

A few questions...

1) Any suggestions for an affordable (under $200) monitor that will work well with my iMac
2) How do you set up the second monitor
3) Anything I'll need to know beforehand? i.e. software, cables, etc

Thanks in advance.

There are lots of 22"-24" monitors available for under $200. Almost all of them will work fine.

2) How do you set up the second monitor

Basically (see answer below) just plug it into the iMac's video out port.

You will probably need an adapter. The monitor will probably have a DVI cable…so you will need a video adapter to go from the DVI of the monitors cable…to the type of video out port on your iMac (just check your iMac's specs for the video out port type).

HTH,

- Nick
