Icloud and duplicate contacts

Since updating to iOS 6 and all things iCloud, I have multiple duplicate contacts (lots of them) that I am having trouble deleting any advice would be welcomed.

This is not an uncommon problem when folks first shift to iCloud. What is probably happening is that the contacts are being synched both through iTunes and iCloud. There can be other causes though. This article should get you pointed in the right direction
