Syncing iPad with iMac

OS X Version 10.10.1 - 2.66GHz Intel Core 2 Duo -4GB sdram
For some reason changes to my calendar on my iPad are not appearing on my iMac and vice versa. What have I done ??

are you sure the calender is linked to the same email on both the ipad and imac?
